Yesterday like the rest of my days started off very casually, nothing thrilling or extraordinary happened and I was content with that. I had to deliver an order to a guest lets say it was room 032. I brought the guest their meal and much to my surprise when the door opened it was a very kinda Southern ( noticeable through the accent) gentleman who welcomed me in, and nestled comfortably in the hotel bed was a beautiful lady.
These guest caught me for three different reasons…
1. They were black, I live in Australia so black people are as rare as a unicorn.
2. They were black and staying at the most expensive hotel in Sydney… arguably Australia. Which might I note was a WONDERFUL things to see because I love seeing successful black folks, proving every stereotype and racial barrier WRONG.
3. They were certainly from America and more specifically down South so they were a piece of home to me.
I spoke with them in length and there was instant connection just in a way that was very genuine the lady continued to ask about me which was really nice, I was able to be honest and share my experience with her. There was just ‘Something’ about her that was really sweet. Immediately I deemed them ‘MY’ guests.
I left there after maybe 10mins or so of chatting with them and was overwhelmed with a feeling of contentment, somehow in that 10minutes they made being in Australia easier than it was prior to entering their room. I HAD to do something for them, without knowing it they absolutely touched my heart.
Today ( May 10. 12) I saw that an order was placed from their room and I damn near fought ( not literally, however I did have to be adamant) with a team member that I was the one who was going to take the order up. I decided upon truffles as a way to say ‘Thank You’, so i went to the room, again had a nice chat with them, and proceeded to let them eat before the food got cold. Now this kind gentleman looked awfully familiar wasn’t sure where I saw him before but I mean he really stuck out to me. While in their room with them I said ( after figuring out who I thought he resembeled) I said you look familiar and proceeded to tell him about an engagement video i’d seen and I said at the Ritz and he said … “Yes that is us, Remember the Ritz” I literally was SPEECHLESS, almost in tears because I mean this is a video I have watched LITERALLY no less that 20 or so times. Each time just falling more in love with it, and the meaning, and thought behind it. I was standing with two people who’s LOVE I absolutely ADORED. I just REALLY feel like there is so many reasons why God placed Keisha and Robert in my life that I don’t know about however I do that they were there EXACTLY when they should have been and I don’t know what it is but their presence and their genuinely caring nature REALLY blessed me… and for that I will ALWAYS ‘Remember the Park’
Here is the link to their BEAUTIFUL engagement that went viral just a few years ago and i’m sure is the absolute ideal engagement for MANY women around the world.
